How do aligners work?

During the consult, our accredited Invisalign dentist will assess your smile, and with special software, develop a personalised digital treatment plan that outlines the gradual transformation of your teeth. Once you give your approval for this plan, your series of custom aligners will be manufactured. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours daily, switching to a new set every 1 to 2 weeks, as instructed by your dentist. Each aligner is designed to gently and progressively move your teeth into the desired position, ultimately leading to your stunning new smile.

How many hours a day do I need to wear my aligners?

For optimal results and to ensure a timely progression in your treatment, it is essential to wear each aligner for 20 to 22 hours a day. Ideally they are only removed when eating or drinking beverages other than water. (Some patients have even reported weight loss as their aligners help deter them from snacking outside of mealtimes)

Can I drink while wearing my aligners?

Aside from cool water, it is advisable not to consume any beverages while wearing your aligners. This helps prevent the development of cavities and stains on your teeth, and avoids the risk of warping your aligners due to hot drinks.

Will they slip out of my mouth?

It is highly improbable that your aligners will come loose, regardless of your activities—be it sleeping, speaking, or laughing. Invisalign aligners are specifically engineered to fit securely on your teeth, so you need not worry about them slipping out.
