Please contact us immediately should any of the following occur after the second day post-surgery:
Swelling
Pain
Foul smell
Foul taste
Tearing of the gums or stitches
Bleeding
Loosening of the crown or bridge
In General
Continue taking your prescribed medication.
Do not pull or lift your lips to look at the stitches. These will remain for approximately two weeks.
Do not smoke, drink alcohol or perform strenuous exercise for the first 2 weeks after your surgery.
24 Hours After Surgery
Do not rinse your mouth until tomorrow. This will ensure that the blood will clot and you will not continue to bleed.
Expect slight oozing of blood to occur for the next two days.
If needed, continue to use the provided gauze packs to stop the bleeding.
2-14 days After Surgery
Rinse your mouth twice daily with Savacol (chlorhexidine) mouthwash.
Rinse with warm saline to increase mouth comfort. Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in half a glass of warm water and gently rinse. Continue for as long as required.
Take care when brushing your teeth so as to not bump or scratch the surgery site.
Continue to use interdental brushes, flosses, and tapes dipped in Savacol before retiring.
Unless directed, do not use a manual or electric toothbrush in the surgery area, or brush the exposed healing cap.
2 Weeks After Surgery
Stop using the Savacol (chlorhexidine) mouthwash.
